A long standing customer, Murray were looking to fully utilise the KubeNet Private network we deliver to their sites across the UK. The aim was to embrace the expanding portfolio of technology available to enhance and streamline their business processes and the way they collaborate with Clients, partners and employees. The aim was to reduce suppliers across, PBX maintainers and IT suppliers, moving as many products and services to the cloud and hosted while increasing network security and ensuring that increased levels of Disaster Recovery were in place.
Working closely with the Murray IT team, we looked at all options available and via workshops and continued discussions we looked at how the business looked now and how it would look over the next 5 years and beyond.
As our Next Generation Network which is fully managed by kube was already in place, the first important landmark was to increase bandwidth across multiple sites to ensure that all proposed services could be delivered over multiple routes and with low latency.
Ageing PBX technology and increased maintenance and upgrade costs were becoming a challenge and vendor management time consuming. We also looked at Murray’s current on and off premise presence software licences and it was clear that the way forward was to fully utilise Unified Communications to increase productivity and reduce costs.
A mobile workforce in the event of a DR situation is important and we rolled out our Hosted Telephony Solution “OPTIMUS” to all locations over their own private network, which resulted in no capex and increased functionality for all users. Murray took MS 365 to the cloud, reducing the dependency of their Co-Location footprint at one of our Tier 3 Data centre locations and accessing Azure and other storage options over kubeNET.
With network security, high on everyone’s agenda we replaced the current firewall set up with our hosted solution KubeNET Managed Firewall Services (KMFS) which is an enterprise grade security appliance which sits in our core with enhanced, managed and maintained security for peace of mind.
