FTTP vs FTTC
With FTTP, a fibre-optic cable is run directly to your premises, providing a high-speed connection with faster download and upload speeds. With FTTC, the fibre-optic cable only goes as far as the nearest cabinet, with the connection from the cabinet to your premises still using traditional copper cabling.
FTTC is faster than traditional broadband, but it's still typically slower than FTTP and can be affected by factors such as distance from the cabinet. FTTC will also be affected by the PSTN switch off in 2025 - with solutions being sunset in September 2023 in preparation.
SOGEA
SOGEA stands for Single Order Generic Ethernet Access. It is a hybrid solution of traditional copper wiring and modern fibre broadband technology, where fibre comprises the majority of cabling, with copper wiring providing the connection between the cabinet and your premises.

With maximum download speeds of 80 Mbps and maximum upload speeds of 20 Mbps, SOGEA is a future-proofed alternative to traditional copper broadband solutions.
Why choose SOGEA?
SOGEA provides your business a broadband connection without the need for traditional PSTN lines, which forced businesses to have a connection for both broadband and phone. This means that SOGEA is perfectly positioned to keep you running far beyond the PSTN switch off at the end of 2025.
Switching to SOGEA gives you these benefits:
Fast broadband speeds
SOGEA allows you to access fast download and upload speeds, meaning you can work and collaborate with your team seamlessly, across multiple devices.
Simplified set-up
With SOGEA, there's no need for a separate phone line, which can make setup easier and quicker. You'll also have one less bill to pay as your broadband and phone charges will be combined into one package.
Greater flexibility
Choose the broadband package that best suits your business needs, without having to pay for a phone line you may not use.
Future-proofed
SOGEA's hybrid setup means that it no longer relies on traditional copper lines - ensuring your business stays up and running well after the PSTN switch off in 2025.
